Last week I was repairing a MacBook Pro laptop with a start up problem. The Apple disk utilities found the hard drive defective and I replaced the hard drive. The operating system reinstalled from the Apple recovery cloud so the laptop is back to normal.

After the repair, I wanted to see if any file data could be seen on the drive from another computer.  I connected it to my drive cage and then to my Linux desktop computer.  Unfortunately, nothing could be seen on the drive.  The Linux computer saw the hard drive, but the file system was unrecognized. I don’t know if it was due to a corrupt file system, hardware damage, or the MAC File System being unable to be seen by Linux.
