A while ago a business client called me about their Windows 7 laptop not playing Audio CDs.  I fixed their problem by assigning a media player program to the audio file type and it worked for a month.

Now they are saying CDs aren’t playing again so a service call was planned. I arrived on site at their business and started looking at the laptop.  I inserted an audio CD into the tray and it started playing in the media player program.  The problem was the volume in Windows was muted and once we turned up the audio, we could hear the CD.

Lesson learned: check your volume before calling a computer technician when you can’t hear your CD.
