Every current operating system has updates and Linux is no exception. I recently installed Linux on an old, but usable Windows computer. Windows was left installed in case I needed it. When it starts, the laptop defaults into Linux Mint. When it was started for the first there were 184 updates available for many programs and OS files.

I like the gentle way Linux handles updates compared to Microsoft Windows which continually updates its operating systems and forces a restart sometimes. It may have improved but in the past I had a Windows 10 computer restart my computer for updates and I lost data and spent a few days recovering.
