My newest laptop is an Apple MacBook Air which is light and fast. I got it this January and it has helped me learn Apple computers and get work done on the run. It was fast for several months and the last months it got slower and slower. Then one day it got so bad it never would start up completely. It just froze at a blank screen. Other times it froze at the Apple login screen with a progress wheel spinning.

The exact details escape me, but I think I first forced it to power down and restart in Safe mode. This took several attempts and days to complete. When I did get it stabilize, I removed items in startup, deleted temporary files and probably ran updates.

I’m now able to use it and am actually writing this article on it. The fingerprint reader stopped working months ago and now works for some reason.
