I was given an old Apple Macbook laptop which had a lost password and locked account. It was going to be used for my education on Apple laptops so my Apple laptop wouldn’t get ruined when I tested things on it. My thought was to open the case and disconnect the main battery and hope after a while the account info would be lost. Then I could start over setting it up to use.
Once I got the cover off, it was challenging to determine how to remove the batteries. There were not any screws holding the down – they were glued down! The electrical connectors were thin ribbon cables and not ones from earlier laptops I’ve encountered. Prying the batteries out of the case seemed the only option I had and in the process one of the batteries shorted and got hot. Now it won’t power on any longer. Perhaps I could have tried a heat gun to loosen the glue.
Thanks Apple for making it hard to work on your equipment!
