I have been having problems with printing on my main desktop computer for a few weeks.  It happens to be a Linux Mint computer and not a Windows one.  In my work, printing isn’t done very often so I just let it go if it fails. Today, I tried again to print a bank statement and no response after I clicked PRINT.  Several things were tried.  l opened the printer app under the Administration program and got this unwelcome screen.

This was new to me because like most parts of Linux the printing just works   Now I looked at the printer itself which was connected to a Raspberry Pi server through a USB cable.   It was powered on and the USB cable was connected to both the printer and the Raspberry Pi server.  A few hours later, I checked the desktop computer again and opened the desktop updates icon.  Ten updates were available and the first was one for CUPS (common UNIX printer service)!   Perhaps the problem is going to be solved with this update for the printing service.

Once I ran the updates and rebooted, the bank statement printed!   It’s great when an update solves your problem.
