All operating systems need updated for different reasons like security, stability and functionality. Microsoft’s approach in Windows 10 was forcing the updates on users and sometimes rebooting the computer while it was in use. Windows 11 seems to have lessened the forced reboots and they have allowed the user to control when updates are installed.
I prefer Linux Mint over Microsoft Windows and one reason is the update approach. They have an icon on the dashboard for updates and it adds a red dot over it to indicate available updates. When it is clicked, you can install all or pick and choose the ones you want. Nothing happens until you click on the icon. In Windows, If you don’t take the updates, it forces them on you eventually.
