Someone gave me a USB battery pack for smartphones a few years ago. It’s a clever contraption which plugs into a 120VAC electrical outlet and has and internal chargeable battery with two USB ports. Last month one of the charging prongs broke off along with the plastic securing it to the case. It would be impossibble to repair so i had to think of another way to retrofit a cable into it.
First I needed to open the case to get at the battery. Looking at the case – no hardware holes were visible. The unit looked like it was glued together not screwed together. My tool cabinet was searched for a suitable chisel and I got my hammer to prepare a different way. I lightly chiseled the center of the plastic case. After a few minutes, the case began to separate and I eventually pried it apart.
