I got a call today from a computer repair client who had a laptop emergency – they broke their screen. They could still see the computer image on it, but it was unusable. They were desperate to get it repaired so I got the model and serial number from them. Then I researched replacing the screen and then gave them an estimate. Until the screen arrives, they can’t use the laptop unless they have an external monitor.
All laptops usually have an external VGA connector for connecting a monitor to see the computer’s display signal. I usually have a external monitor in my car for cases like this and for testing desktop computers. That’s why my suggestion even if you only have laptops in your business, is to keep an external monitor for screen problems and troubleshooting.
