Like many of you I use computers often and sometimes have many programs and web browsers open.  Many years ago I discovered a shortcut for closing programs.  I probably read it in a computer magazine. It’s a keyboard sequence of two keys: Alt and F4.  You hold down the Alt key and then hit the F4 key on the top row of the keyboard.  A prompt appears asking if you want to close or shut down the next open program.

It works in Microsoft Windows and that’s where I used it first for 20 years mainly to close down .  It also works in Linux operating systems like Mint.   On my Apple laptops it also has closed web browsers and even the computer itself.

Try out the shortcut on your computer and let me know how it goes.  If you’ve used it before, tell me how you’ve used it in your computer career.
