Saturday evening I was with my wife watching a TV show and my smartphone rang.  The number was from New York and I answered it expecting a scam or telemarketer.  It was a computer user asking about my charges for computer work they were needing.  After some questions I discovered his laptop was a Windows 8 version at least ten years old.  He wanted to upgrade it to Windows 11.   I explained that based on age, the laptop probably meet the hardware requirements of Windows 11.  It has stringent security requirements that older computers don’t have.  Also, even if I was to get Windows 11 installed, something on the old laptop could fail right after I got done.  I suggested they get a new one and they were happy I was honest with them.
