One of my long-time computer repair clients asked me to analyze their Windows 11 laptop early this March. He said it’s been slow since I’ve owned it and it would be nice to have it faster. I checked different things and found it was all the widgets which were installed. My client knew nothing about them and they came in probably when the computer came from the factory.
There was one which took forever to remove and it came from the laptop maker. It was a battery and time widget which was always on the desktop. The resource monitor showed it was using much memory and I knew it had to go. At first I was just trying to disable it in case the client wanted it back. I tried all kinds of things and finally I just removed it in the Apps part of Control Panel.
Now my client reports the laptop is faster and I’m glad to hear that.
