Earlier this winter, I loaded my vehicle with a new computer and peripherals for a client. Some extra keyboards were loaded as well in the back seat in case they were needed. This was in December around 6am so it was dark out. I went on with my day thinking nothing was amiss.
When I got to my first stop, I approached the rear door and saw a computer cable hanging out. I hoped it wasn’t damaged by just barely sticking out of the door and not touching the pavement. The cable was picked up and examined and to my surprise, the USB connector was missing! It was dragged maybe 15 miles at highway speeds and no wonder I had just a bare wire in my hand.
I’ll be more cautious in the future when I load my vehicle to ensure all cables are inside. On a positive note, the damaged keyboard was a used one and not the new one.
