Recently, my main Linux computer was getting slow and I couldn’t figure out why.  The startup processes were examined and nothing out of the ordinary was discovered.  Next the disk space was viewed and the hard drive was almost full!  Nothing came to mind that would have caused it.  The Disk Usage analyzer utility automatically alerted me a little later about the problem and I allowed it to do it’s analysis.  It’s surprised me to learn 140GB was being used by the /Var/log folder.  I assumed it was my files and not the system logs.  The three logs, syslog, Kernlog and ufwlog were aroung 40GB each and so large they couldn’t be opened.  I was going to save them offline but i didn’t due to time.  I just deleted all three and now the computer is faster.  I’ll keep and eye on them in the future.
