I bought a corded AC hand massager which cost around $30 last year.  After a year it ran intermittently and I determined the cord had an open in it.    The plastic case was difficult to take apart and I never could get it completely separated even after removal of all the screws. After the screws were removed,  I pried it open and luckily it never cracked.  Using my VOM, I found which side was defective and de-soldered both wires from the circuit board.  About 3 inches of both wires were cut off and then soldered back to the circuit board.  After a month it runs normally and it’s good to know I can repair some things rather than toss them and buy a new one.

The two AC wire contacts I de-soldered and re-soldered
