One of local computer clients brought me his Lenovo laptop which wouldn’t start any longer. He used it for many years without issues until now.  He thought it might be the AC power supply so he brought it, too.  I put the laptop and AC adapter on my workbench.  First I used my VOM and checked the voltage of the AC Adapter.  It was correct at 20 volts.  Next the laptop was connected to the AC Adapter and the power button was pressed.

Surprisingly, it came on and ran fine.  I power cycled it a few times and let it run for hours.  The next day it still ran fine so I assume it was something with the power devices at his location. Before I returned it I ran some disk utilities and freed some disk space.  A disk check was ran and didn’t find any errors  I returned the laptop and adapter to my client and told him my findings. He’s going to get a new power strip or plug it directly in the wall and let me know.
