Not long ago I was using one of my Linux computers and noticed the video player was frozen or locked up. Instead of closing the video player from it’s interface, I used a different approach.  The System Monitor program was opened so I could see the running processes.  After scanning the list, the Celluloid video player was located. and I was ready to end it.  Somehow I noticed the status of it was not sleeping or running.  It was a Zombie process!  From college I recalled Zombie processes are orphans and are hard to kill. They can live forever until the computer is restarted.   I found this to be true as I couldn’t manually end or kill it.  It finally died when I restarted the computer.
