It’s a good practice to keep your operating systems updated on all your computers. On my Linux systems I have the update notification active on the task bars. This allows me to install them when I want instead of being forced to do it. When I choose to install and the process is complete, reboots are sometimes required. This would be with major parts of the OS. Many times reboots are not needed like in web browser or audio updates.
